Areas of Expertise
Certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing, ACLS Certified
I taught elementary school for four years—three years in fifth grade for Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation and one year in sixth grade at New Castle Community School Corporation. I worked on a Medical-Surgical floor for five years within the Community Health Network—two as an RN Care Manager and three as a Patient Care Coordinator (Charge Nurse). I was also a clinical instructor for Anderson University for three years (sophomores, juniors, and seniors).
BS, Elementary Education from Ball State University (Spanish minor)
BS, Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University
MSN, Nursing Education from Anderson University
I play the ukulele and have run the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon 10 of the last fifteen years (both under my own name and under names of friends who could not run at the time). Both of my parents served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. My hair started to fall out at age 16—but, bald is beautiful (or so I have been told)!
Favorite Thing About UIndy
UIndy’s commitment to education through service is my favorite thing about this University. I love the fact that I have the opportunity to impact the future of health care by helping to mold and influence our students within the School of Nursing. In this capacity, I aspire to live up to the legacy of Col. Robert A Smith MD, United States Army: “His life and work set forth the devotion to an ideal—that service to humanity is service to God.” I look forward to what the future holds for me at UIndy.
